Wondering why you often feel like you’re just barely holding it all together, juggling work, home life, and everything in between? If so, you’re not alone.
This post is all about helping you understand negativity and how to own your energy, so you can bring more clarity, intent and joy into your life.
Firstly why is it important to be in your own energy?
Being in your own energy is important because it directly impacts your mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
When you’re aware of your personal energy and how external factors influence it, you can make informed decisions that improve your life.
Our energy is continually flowing with everything we do, think or respond to. Long after that morning customer call you could still be pondering their problem and whether you gave them sufficient information.
You still have an energy cord plugged into that conversation.
You had lunch with a friend who’s upset with her boyfriend. You still have an energy cord plugged into that one too along with many other cords plugged in where they’re no longer needed.
No wonder you’re completely exhausted by afternoon.
4 Steps to Handle Negativity and Own Your Energy: Why It Matters and How to Do It
I’ve seen firsthand how transformative it can be when someone learns to manage their energy flow. Many of my clients have experienced positive shifts in their lives by simply becoming more conscious of their personal energy and taking steps to protect and improve it.
So in this post, I’m going to answer the questions of why owning your energy matters as well as 4 Steps to improve your personal energy journey.
We’ll start by answering these four questions:
Q1 – What Does Owning Your Energy Mean?
Q2 – What Are Some Common Problems With Energy
Q3 – How to Own Your Energy and Why You Need Help
Q4 – How to Improve Your Energy Flow where I include the 4 Steps to improve your personal energy journey.
So let’s dive in.
Q1 – What Does Owning Your Energy Mean?
Own your energy means being aware of how you feel and taking steps to protect and improve your wellbeing. It’s about recognising that your energy is your most valuable resource. It needs to be managed wisely and intentionally.
This includes being aware of negativity and how different environments and interactions may affect you.
Start by paying attention to how you feel in different situations and around different people. Are there certain places or individuals that leave you feeling drained? On the other hand, are there environments or interactions that raise your energy?
For example, you might notice that spending time with a particular friend leaves you feeling uplifted and inspired, while a meeting with a negative colleague leaves you feeling exhausted.
Once you identify these patterns, you can take steps to protect your energy. This might involve setting boundaries, limiting your exposure to energy draining situations, or including practices that help you recharge, like meditation or spending time in nature.
Understanding and owning your energy is not just about avoiding negative influences but also about actively encouraging positive energy flow.
This can involve practices like meditation, affirmations, and energy clearing exercises.
By including these practices into your daily routine, you can maintain a balanced and vibrant energy level, which in turn improves your overall wellbeing and happiness.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s not all fun and roses but when challenges do arise you meet them with clarity not confusion.
You sort out problems more easily. You make better decisions. You resolve situations more easily and fairly, both for yourself and others.

Q2 – What Are Some Common Problems with Energy
Many people struggle with energy vampires – those people, activities, or even thoughts that leave you feeling exhausted and depleted. Identifying these energy vampires is the first step in reclaiming your power.
Take some time to reflect on the top three energy drainers in your life. Are there certain people who always leave you feeling tired? Do specific tasks or activities deplete your energy? Are there negative thoughts or beliefs that weigh you down?
For instance, one of my clients, felt constantly overwhelmed and couldn’t understand why. She identified that her constant checking of work emails outside office hours was a significant energy drainer.
By setting boundaries around her email use, she began to feel more relaxed and in control. Even small changes can make a big difference in managing your energy and creating joy.
Another common problem I often see, is the feeling of being constantly overwhelmed and unable to focus. This often stems from taking on too many responsibilities and not prioritising selfcare. Setting clear goals and boundaries is essential to being more intentional with your energy.
Remember, it’s okay to say no and prioritise yourself first. By doing so, you create space for both positive energy and productivity.
Q3 – How to Own Your Energy and Why You Need Help
Owning your energy involves including daily practices that help you maintain your energy balance. This can include simple energy clearing techniques like taking a few deep breaths, visualising the release of negative energy, and grounding yourself through mindful practices.
Regular meditation, affirmations, and even physical exercise can significantly improve your energy flow.
While it’s possible to make progress on your own, sometimes getting guidance from an energy practitioner can make all the difference. Energy practitioners can help you uncover deeper beliefs and patterns that may be sabotaging your personal energy practices.
When I first started my journey, I was in weekly meditation classes, starting to learn what to do for myself. I felt generally calmer and clearer in my thoughts but still struggled with challenging people and situations.
It wasn’t until much later when I was doing practitioner training and receiving sessions from the trainer herself that I made significant progress. Her guidance together with the specialised training uncovered beliefs and patterns that had been buried much deeper, sabotaging my earlier attempts.
Working with an energy practitioner provides a structured approach through their specialised modality and personalised support. They can also provide insights and techniques giving you a variety of perspectives to help you navigate your energy journey more effectively.
Remember, you don’t have to do it alone – sometimes, seeking help is the most empowering step you can take in improving your energy. Here’s my energy session details.
Q4. – How to Improve Your Energy Flow
We never expect work and life to be in complete harmony. There’s usually some sort of natural ebb and flow between them that tells us that they are in balance, well for us anyway.

So let’s change that.
Make a start by identifying the friction.
4 Steps to improve your personal energy journey:
Step One –
